Detailed description of McCracken Country Club

McCracken Golf Course is a 9-hole public golf course located in McCracken, Kansas.

McCracken Golf Course first opened for play in 1922.

If you haven't had the pleasure of playing on oiled sand greens, this is your chance.

McCracken Golf Club was organized in February 1922. Bert Juvenal's pasture was selected for the location of the links. Membership dues was $3.00 a year and membership limited to 30 members. It was made with sand greens so that the upkeep and maintenance would be easier for the volunteer staff. and remains so today.

On the McCracken course you may be golfing and see wild turkeys, deer, frogs, and many types of wildlife around you. The course is built around Big Timber Creek. Presently there are a few Buffalo Wallows left by past herds from many years ago.

McCracken Golf Course is a 9 hole course that plays to a par 35 and a maximum 9-hole distance of 2,800 yards.

McCracken Country Club is a public, 9 hole sand greens course. It is all volunteer labor and they do a good job keeping it mowed and nice. The course is short, but interesting and fun. There are some challenging holes. #9 is a long, severe dogleg right with trees in the fairway. It is a tough hole to par. #3 is an island green, par 3 that is tough to hit. There are trees that affect a majority of the holes. You can usually catch the locals playing Saturday and Sunday mornings or evenings and they are a fun group. $5 for all day is a bargain. I live 200 miles away, but travel to the area a lot so I bought a $50/year membership! A real bargain! Check out their tournaments, too. A country meal is usually included!

Would travel: 120-300 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing, Ranks with the best in this price level, Best course in the area
